How does the ACA affect self-employed consumers?

People who are self-employed will still qualify for a tax deduction for health insurance purchased under the Affordable Care Act, and self-employed people with no staff will be considered individuals, not small businesses, under the law. In California, the state's insurance marketplace is not offering individual plans that are compatible with health savings accounts, but it's possible HSA-compatible plans will be available to small businesses when the final rules are issued.
