Mom's depression may raise obesity risk in children

Children born to mothers with moderate and severe depression symptoms had an increased risk of overweight and obesity compared with those whose mothers did not have depression, according to a study in Academic Pediatrics. Children with mothers with mild depression were more likely to consume sugary drinks, skip breakfast and eat out at least three times per week than were those whose mothers were not depressed, researchers noted.
