Employee stock-purchase plans are making a comeback after years of waning popularity because of new accounting rules and the recession, observers say. ESPPs are a way for workers to accumulate company shares in their retirement accounts. "It's a great way to keep employees motivated and engaged," says David Romero, Invesco's director of benefits.
