Why restaurant chains actively seek military veterans

Veterans of the military are hard workers who have been trained to follow systems and procedures, traits that make them excellent employees and franchisees, said executives at chains including Jersey Mike's Subs, Maui Wowi and Edible Arrangements. "[The military] teaches you to be there where you’re supposed to be at the time you’re supposed to be there. Somebody tells you to do something, you do it. You don’t ask why or tell them no or get all fussy about it," said veteran Timothy Lewis, who is finding civilian success at Firehouse Subs.
