The Netherlands Institute of Ecology, designed by Claus En Kaan Architecten, tests new ideas to improve green-building techniques. Its new building was constructed based on the cradle-to-cradle philosophy and used "simple materials that can be recycled or reused, a solar array that generates power, and a waste water filtration system that eliminates sewage," according to this article.
