Diabetes raises complication, death risk after polytrauma

Research in BMC Medicine found that diabetes patients had higher rates of complication -- including kidney failure, heart attack and deep vein thrombosis -- and death following polytrauma than those without comorbidities. "Endocrinologists need to be vigilant when monitoring their patients in a polytrauma setting," researcher Peter Giannoudis, M.D., said.
