Michigan to charge schools for laptop program

The state has said it will require schools to pay $25 per pupil to participate in Freedom to Learn, a program that will give all sixth-graders laptops or other wireless devices beginning in January. The program targets sixth-graders because research indicated students begin to lose interest in school at that age.
