Research: Media M&As jump 78% in first half of 2007

Media industry mergers and acquisitions reached a new high in the first six months of the year, jumping to $76 billion worth of transactions, a 78% hike, versus $43 billion in the first half of 2006, according to investment bank Jordan Edmiston Group. Web and media services properties accounted for 42% of the overall value of the deals.
