ASF strives to boost confidence in securitization sector

The American Securitization Forum, an affiliate of SIFMA, has revealed plans to revive residential-mortgage-backed securities as part of an overall goal to boost confidence in securitization. The group's plans come as the credit crunch has taken its toll on mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. "The current concerns regarding Fannie and Freddie signal the increasing need for private-sector mortgage securitizations to get up and running again," said Tom Deutsch, the ASF's deputy executive director.
