Sony forms consortium on UWB technologies

Sony Corp. will be working with 14 other consumer-electronics companies -- including Canon, Kodak, Panasonic and Toshiba -- to advance TransferJet, the set of ultrawideband, short-range technologies that can transmit up to 560 Mbps. The consortium is trying to develop a standard spec for the technology, which Sony said could find its way into CE devices by 2009.
