European officials are optimistic about banks' stress tests

Policymakers from across Europe expressed confidence and optimism about results of banks' stress tests, which are being conducted. Eurogroup Chairman Jean-Claude Juncker, International Monetary Fund Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Bank of Italy Governor Mario Draghi and other officials indicated that banks being tested will pass and that the tests are tough enough to reassure markets. "When we have the results we will no doubt see banks are solid enough to resist shocks that could result from a state in crisis," Strauss-Kahn said.
