HIV therapy helps reduce spread of the disease

A Canadian study showed that as the number of HIV-positive people receiving treatment in British Columbia increased from 837 in 1996 to 5,413 in 2009, the number of new cases decreased from 702 to 338 per year during the period. Experts say the U.S. should increase screening and treatment of HIV patients to help curb transmission.
