Dental status may predict diabetes in patients

Undergoing a dental examination may help identify patients with pre-diabetes and diabetes who were not aware of their condition, a study in the Journal of Dental Research suggests. Experts said the number of missing teeth and deep periodontal pockets were effective in determining the onset of the disease in those who had periodontal examinations and hemoglobin A1c tests.
