Building design key to New York City's anti-obesity drive

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg launched an initiative backing design changes for buildings and public spaces aimed at fighting obesity. He proposed legislation to require stairways to be readily accessible for nonemergency use. Bloomberg encouraged New Yorkers to use stairs instead of elevators when possible.
