Cleverly placed incisions protect patients' privacy

Plastic surgeons have seen demand surge for brachioplasty, or arm-lift surgery, especially from people who have lost significant amounts of weight. The incision goes from the armpit to the elbow, and skilled plastic surgeons are able to place the incisions so that they are not noticeable, writes Michael Yaremchuk, director of plastic surgery training at Harvard Medical School. "Cleverly-placed incisions can help ensure that the increase in patients undergoing brachioplasty is only noticeable in statistics provided by plastic surgeons, not from any obvious scars," Yaremchuk writes. "As with any successful plastic surgery, only the patient and surgeon need to know."
