CMS may add stars to rankings on Hospital Compare website

CMS said it is considering adding stars or some other designation to the Medicare Hospital Compare website to make it easier for patients to compare quality among facilities. Critics of the idea said health quality measures may not be robust enough to make such a system effective and that it could exaggerate minor differences in performance.
