FDIC's Hoenig urges separation of bank activities

Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Vice Chairman Thomas Hoenig is calling for Congress to separate the activities of commercial and investment banking. Doing so, he said at a speech before the Main Street Alliance, "focuses [the banks] on their business of lending, which in the long run I think benefits the small-business operator in this country."
