Flurry: Free apps with ads are a growing market segment

Smartphone users are apparently happy to watch ads in exchange for getting a mobile application for free, according to a study from Flurry, the mobile analytics firm. Flurry said the percentage of free apps in Apple's Store rose from 80% in 2011 to 90% a year ago. "We simply see this as the outcome of consumer choice: People want free content more than they want to avoid ads or to have the absolute highest quality content possible," Flurry’s Mary Ellen Gordon writes.
