Gallup index indicates decline in consumer confidence

A measurement of consumer confidence in the economy taken by Gallup has fallen to minus 12. That's in line with the average for the year, but it's also the worst reading since April. "Except for that brief sequestration-related plunge in March the index has varied in a fairly narrow range between minus 17 and minus three since mid-January," Gallup said in a news release.
