Investor wants PepsiCo to buy Mondelez

Nelson Peltz, who owns shares of PepsiCo and Mondelez International estimated at $2.7 billion, is urging PepsiCo to acquire Mondelez, saying, "the carbonated soft drink business is just not growing." PepsiCo sees the proposed merger as risky and unnecessary. "We have a strong growth strategy and structure in place, and our results to date and returns to our shareholders prove that we are a high performing company and our strategy is working," a spokesman said.
