Opinion: Lawmakers mum on Pacific pivot, sequester

Lawmakers no longer seem particularly alarmed about sequestration cuts to defense and may not be showing much interest in the Obama administration's plan to pivot the military's focus toward the Pacific, writes Breaking Defense Editor Colin Clark. The House Armed Services Committee only this week scheduled its first hearing on the Pacific strategy, he writes. Further, the quieting down of comment from lawmakers appears to indicate that "sequestration is here to stay," he writes, barring an attack on the U.S.
