Prolonged exposure therapy reduces depression, PTSD symptoms

Researchers analyzed data on 1,931 veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder and found that those who received prolonged exposure therapy experienced significant improvements in PTSD and depression symptoms. The proportion of veterans who met screening criteria for a PTSD diagnosis dropped by about half from baseline to the end of therapy, researchers reported in JAMA Psychiatry.
