More factory output, consumer spending and a rise in the housing industry has resulted in "modest to moderate" growth in the U.S. economy from late May into early June, according to the Federal Reserve's Beige Book survey. Hiring held steady in most of the Fed's 11 districts, and five reported strong auto sales. Housing starts in June fell by 10% from May, while apartment construction declined almost 27% in June from May.
