Wis. doctor sees benefits of team-based care approach

Family physician Dave Eitrheim, M.D., in Menomonie, Wis., implemented new protocols that emphasize pre-visit planning to get lab work done ahead of time and team-based care that gives nurses added patient responsibilities. The nurses provide preventive care, counsel patients about tobacco use and do foot exams for diabetes patients, freeing up more patient care time for Eitrheim, reducing wait times and increasing patient satisfaction.
