Schools are familiar with the downside of social media, such as cyberbullying, but increasingly they also are learning about the benefits sites such as Facebook and Twitter can have for parent-teacher communication and classroom learning. At one junior high school in the U.K., educators used social media to keep parents updated about a school trip and continued the updates, allowing parents to have conversations with their children online about what they saw.
