Novartis to build flu vaccine plant in U.S.

In a move expected to help eliminate U.S. shortages of seasonal flu vaccine, Novartis announced plans to build a flu vaccine plant that will use new technology to avoid production glitches. The firm expects to have the $600 million plant in Holly Springs, N.C., ready within four years, with the ability to produce 50 million shots a year and capacity expansion possible in case of a pandemic.
