Cox urges Congress to boost disclosure on municipal bonds

Christopher Cox, SEC chairman, suggested in a speech Wednesday in Los Angeles that lawmakers establish new disclosure rules for the municipal bond market. Marc Lackritz, chief executive officer of SIFMA, responded by saying that the municipal bonds provide "a safe haven" to investors, pointing out that since 1970 only 0.1% of municipal bonds have defaulted.
