The Obama administration's announcement that it will require federal contractors to verify that their employees are eligible to work in the U.S. with a government database demonstrates that the White House is serious about reforming immigration laws, writes Lee Hockstader. However, he writes that theses changes are not enough to overhaul immigration policies. "As Congress gets set to tackle the immigration mess, the administration will need deft politicking, and a broad strategic lens, to push for a comprehensive solution," he writes.
