Figuring out sugar content from food labels is tricky

Registered dietitians say too much sugar causes health problems, but it can be difficult to figure out how much is in foods based on nutrition labels. Sugar content includes sugars that occur naturally and those added to food, so a better indicator of a food's sugar content is the list of ingredients.
