Hedge funds drive rent increases in London's West End

Office rents in London's Mayfair submarket are rising in part because of hedge funds' demand for space in the exclusive district, according to Jones Lang LaSalle. Annual rents for top office space in the West End hit $130 per square foot in Q2, up from $114.70 the previous quarter. "We have witnessed a real sea change in the West End over the past couple of months," says Jonathan Evans, head of Jones Lang's West End leasing and development agency. He predicts further increases.
