Insurers oppose amendment to NFIP legislation

The House approved an amendment to the proposed Flood Insurance Reform Priorities Act of 2010 that could allow Write Your Own insurers to include wind-damage claims under the National Flood Insurance Program, a decision that drew flak from insurers. "There's a lot of extra stuff in the bill, so if you wanted to find something to love or hate, it's in there," said PCI's Ben McKay. Rep. Gene Taylor, D-Miss., sponsored the wind-damage amendment and is expected to introduce a multiperil insurance measure in the near future.
