As the country faces its highest unemployment rate since 1983, reality shows on cable about people just going about their jobs are enjoying high viewership and spawning programming with similar themes. Programs that are indicative of the trend include Discovery's "Deadliest Catch," TLC's "Cake Boss," History's "Pawn Stars" and A&E's "Parking Wars."
