Would geoengineering be worse than global warming?

Some scientists believe we could overcome global warming by using high-tech tricks -- injecting reflective particles into the atmosphere, for instance -- to dial down the world's thermostat. Only one problem: A study shows the effects wouldn't be uniform, so climate settings that would suit China might lead to catastrophic flooding in India, while India's optimal climate would cause heat waves in China. "What's good for the goose may not be good for the gander," notes one Stanford University climate scientist.
