Ameriflight petitions FAA to allow pilots to log hours while flying SIC

Cargo operator Ameriflight filed a petition in February with the Federal Aviation Administration to allow pilots to log flight hours while serving as second-in-command on flights that only require one pilot. "SICs ... would gain real-world flying experience under the supervision of a qualified captain," Ameriflight stated. The petition has recently been opened for public comment.
