Calif. district cites cost in elimination of D.A.R.E

The Tulare City School District in California and its local police department have mutually agreed to end the long-standing Drug Abuse Resistance Education program, which aimed to prevent drug and alcohol abuse and gang activity among students. Known as D.A.R.E., the program cost $150,000 and continued participation would have required police officers to travel out of state for additional training.
