The post-2015 development goals need to address the continuing "global education emergency" as well as gender equality, says Amina Mohammed, special adviser on post-2015 development planning to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. A lack of education dooms young people to incomplete societal participation, Mohammed says. "We cannot afford the cost of a lost generation," she argues.
