Seattle adds parking payments by mobile phone

Seattle has joined the ranks of 180 global cities that allow motorists to pay for parking via mobile phone. The PayByPhone system uses QR codes and near-field communications, allowing drivers to receive text updates and add parking time remotely. For the time being, however, the service is only an option in the city's downtown.
