British teachers propose ban on "failure"

In England next week, the Professional Association of Teachers will consider a proposal that educators replace the word "fail" with the concept of "deferred success," so that children won't be discouraged when they fall short. In dismissing the idea, Education Secretary Ruth Kelly said education's role is to prepare children to deal with the successes and failures they'll face as adults.
