Texas school GED programs in jeopardy

Texas's switch to a new formula for calculating dropouts next year could threaten programs allowing students to stay in school to earn a GED rather than a diploma. State officials say the change encourages districts to help more students get a high school diploma, which carries more weight than a GED in the eyes of colleges and employers.
