Bill would boost funding for high-speed rail

A spending bill approved by a House committee would provide $4 billion to a high-speed rail initiative supported by the White House. States have requested about $70 billion in grants for high-speed rail projects, lawmakers said. The legislation approved by the House Appropriations Committee would also provide a $1.5 billion subsidy for Amtrak.
