Chemical companies fight LyondellBasell's closure plans in Texas

LyondellBasell Industries is facing challenges from other chemical companies operating near its plants in Chocolate Bayou, Texas, over Lyondell's plans to close facilities. Ineos, which owns a complex adjacent to a Lyondell high-density polyethylene plant, has filed an objection to its closure and says it has the right to purchase the facility. Solutia and Ascend Performance Materials are challenging plans to close an ethylene cracker, saying abandonment would be a threat to human health and safety.
