GAO questions FDA's capability to estimate budget needs

The FDA lacks certain information, such as the number of adverse-event reports, to generate reliable estimates of what resources and amount of funding it needs, according to the Government Accountability Office. The FDA is working to better monitor its staffing and work output to create data necessary for budget requests, Principal Deputy Commissioner Joshua Sharfstein wrote in a letter to GAO.
