India sets goal to ramp up solar energy by 2020

More than half of India's 1.1 billion residents do not have access to electricity, but the country hopes to change that statistic with renewable energy. India announced a goal of producing 20,000 megawatts of solar electricity by 2020. Renewable energy currently accounts for 3% of energy production in India, but the region receives abundant sunshine.
