White House official: Q2 GDP numbers will show progress

White House Budget Director Peter Orszag predicted that second-quarter U.S. gross domestic product figures would show improvement over first-quarter numbers. GDP contracted 5.5% in the three months ended March 31. "The second-quarter GDP numbers, even though they're likely to still show a decline, are likely to look a lot better than the first quarter, which is a sign of progress," Orszag said.
