Physician burnout hurts patients too, study data show

Physicians who experience burnout tend to be depressed and have higher suicide rates, and study data show they also are less emphatic toward patients and can make more errors. One study found teaching doctors meditation and relaxation techniques led to less emotional exhaustion and gains in patient empathy.
