Survey: 31% of businesses hired people in the second quarter

Nearly one in three businesses hired workers in the second quarter, compared with only 6% of businesses at the same time last year, and nearly two out of five expect to hire in the next six months, according to a survey by the National Association for Business Economics. The gains are led by companies that manufacture goods, while those in the services sector anticipate slow growth and layoffs.
