Women sommeliers are few and far between and Canada boasts no female Master Sommeliers, The Toronto Star reports. While the balance is improving, some in the industry still see a distinct double standard. "You have to overperform in order to be taken seriously," said sommelier and hospitality professor Doris Miculan Bradley. "If I had just done the bare minimum the way my male colleagues did, there's no way opportunity would have knocked on my door."
