Army medical unit to provide veterinary care in Afghanistan

Members of an Army medical detachment are set to leave Fort Benning, Ga., this week for a 12-month tour in Afghanistan to provide veterinary care for military dogs, which have taken on a larger role in operations there, and ensure safe food supplies for the troops. The unit's gear includes a food-analysis lab to test supplies for foodborne illnesses.
