Massachusetts legislature backs governor's charter school plans

State lawmakers yesterday rejected a motion that would have blocked the establishment of new charter schools, which clears the way for the state Board of Education to approve more charter schools this year. Governor Mitt Romney called the decision a "victory for the schoolchildren of Massachusetts."
