Hypoallergenic plants may improve food safety, experts say

Innovations in genetic engineering are helping scientists to develop allergen-free plants that may help boost food safety, according to an Australian study. Such efforts, however, are hampered by difficulties in removing some plant allergenic proteins that are responsible for normal plant function, researchers said.
